Professor of Law and Society, Griffith Centre for Social and Cultural Research
The last 20 years have seen all kinds of attacks on the international global order built since the second world war. Taking as my theme E.M. Forster's "The Machine Stops" short story (1909) and the work of the Russian economist Nikolai Kondratieff on K waves, I try to show what the impediments to a new globalisation are and how they might be overcome. I argue we need new kinds of lawyers who are not yet being produced in our law schools.
John Flood is Professor of Law and Society at the Griffith Centre for Social and Cultural Research (Griffith University), adjunct Professor of Law at Queensland University of Technology, and Associated Research at the Centre for Blockchain Technologies (UCL). His research focuses primarily on the impact of technology on law, digitalization of the legal profession and the globalization of law. His latest work addresses how Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain affect business, regulation and law.
