A Hybrid Discussion with Timur Dadabaev
Guest Professor Timur Dadabaev presents his address “Quiet Power: Strategic Silence, Decolonial Diplomacy, and Transformative Resilience in Central Asia” in a keynote speech at the Central Eurasian Studies Society's (CESS) Regional Conference 2026. Dr. Timur Dadabaev is a concurrently Swedish Research Council Guest Professor at Lund University and Professor of International Relations and the Director of the Special Program for Japanese and Eurasian Studies at the University of Tsukuba, Japan. He is also Professor of International Relations and the Vice Rector for Research and Innovation at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
His most recent books are Strategic Silences and Narrative Power in International Relations: Ambiguity and Non-verbal Diplomacy in Reframing Central Asian Agency (with Sonoda Shigeto, Routledge, June 2026) and Bridges Across Borders’ Dynamics of Central Eurasian Migration to Australia, Japan, and Northern Europe (with Shigeto Sonoda and Kirill Nourzhanov, April 2026).
