Chinese Exchange on Child Rights

The Sociology of Law Department has received funding under the Linnaeus-Palme programme for the academic years 2014-15 and 2014-16. The Linnaeus-Palme programme grants 80 000 SEK to the Sociology of Law Department for the cooperation between Lund University (LU) and the Inner Mongolia Normal University (IMNU).

IMNU, founded in 1952, is one of the oldest and largest universities established in an ethnic minority region in China. It is an important base for training compound talents in basic education and minority education. It also serves as the training centre and continuous education centre for primary and secondary school teachers, and as the research centre for the development and reform of basic education and minority education.

The main aim and starting focus of this application is the implementation of CRC, the Convention of the Rights of the Child in Education. At Lund University, this cooperation mainly concerns the Sociology of Law Department, and the Social Science Faculty and at IMNU mainly the English Department at the School of Foreign Languages.

The project will include activities through exchange visits in Lund and Inner Mongolia to plan the future cooperation between the universities. The proposed cooperation between IMNU and LU will be a new chance for Chinese and Swedish teachers to further develop in various areas, for example when it comes to teaching and teacher-training concepts and methods, research methods and techniques, cross-cultural communication abilities, as well as the general broadening of views.
