Tools of empowerment for informal workers

Ana Maria Vargas Falla at the Sociology of Law Department in Lund has received a grant from the Regulatory Institutions Network (Regnet) and will be attending the Australian National University in Canberra as a visiting Scholar in September and October.

She has also been invited to present her research at The University of Melbourne.

- It is a great opportunity for me and I am very happy to represent Lund University and the University of Milan in Melbourne, says Ana Maria Vargas Falla.

Her research concerns the legal empowerment of the poor and the relation between poverty reduction and legal regulations.

- People who are trying to fight their own poverty are sometimes sent to prison because the work they find is informal, says Ana Maria Vargas Falla.
