In a recent article in Nordic Journal on Law and Society, Jannice Käll presents a concept of justice based on a fusing of Nordic feminist perspectives of law with the new materialism and its concepts of body, space, and atmosphere. She suggests that engaging Nordic feminist legal studies with new materialism can produce a new feminist perspective of law, justice, and their contextual focus.
Käll writes that her combined reading of the two theories “seeks to answer critique brought forward both to Nordic feminist legal studies as a field of research regarding its assumption of who is the subject and what is the space for feminist legal interventions, as well as to new materialist theory in relation to being accused of lacking a direction in terms of what is to be done – or in another sense – what kind of new perspective of justice it brings forward.”
